Hadley's 5th Cast

We are back from Chicago from Hadley's 5th Cast and we are making progress! The casting procedure went well. Hadley is getting used to being put to sleep and is waking up better each time. Some popsicles, juice, and crackers always do the trick for her! This is the first time Hadley was rolled away in her bed off to surgery without crying. She just layed in her little bed looking at all the doctors as they rolled her away. It was the sweetest, yet saddest sight!

Dr. Came out with good news. He said Hadley's back out of cast is at 29 degrees. This means she was corrected 4 degrees from her last cast. We are making progress. Every little bit counts! I asked him if we beat the 30 degree barrier yet and he was positive, but said we are not quite out of the woods yet. I think he has to say that to keep himself safe! We are very happy to be under 30! Even if it is just one degree under! He said hopefully we'll get Hadley down under 20, then do a couple more casts, then hopefully brace her and see what happens. So, we may have awhile to go yet, but anything beats surgery!

In Hadley's current(5th) cast she is down to 0-5 degrees!!!!

Praise the Lord for great progress and safe travel for Andy and I! We were supposed to get a lot of snow, but the Lord kept us safe and out of it! Thank you Father!

Bye Bye 4th Cast

Say Goodbye to Hadley's 4th Cast!!!

Hadley's cast removal

Today Hadley got her cast off! Andy took a video of her getting it removed. Its not the prettiest video, but this is what she has to go through every time they remove her cast. I think I'm thankful I don't have to see what she has to go through to get it put on.

This wk while Hadley is cast free, we plan on spoiling her a little extra and getting lots of quality family time in! I will try to keep a journal day to day of our fun activities we do. So if you want check back and see how Hadley enjoys being free!

Hadley's 5th cast will be applied next Tuesday in Chicago at 6AM.

The video is a bit long, but to see the ending is worth it! :)

The process of cast removal consists of:

1. Sawing through the outer layer
2. Using a special scissor to seperate the outer layer of the cast in order to cut the indside
3. Cutting the inside of the cast

Mcdonalds

After getting Hadley's cast off, we treated her to some Mcdonalds!

Kids say the cutest things

Just wanted to share something cute Hadley said:

Every morning, I Get the girls there cereal and let them watch a movie while watching it. But before we do that, we pray. Today I let Hadley say the prayer and of course she just repeats after me. (just a side note-- Hadley is learning her body parts; she knows eyes, mouth, nose, and just learned ear)
The prayer went like this... (it was new years day)

Me: Dear God
Hadley: Gob

Me: Thank you
Hadley: Thank you

Me: for food
Hadley: Food

Me: and for new
Hadley: New

Me
: Year
Hadley: Ear (pointing to her ear)

I couldn't help but to crack up. It was too cute.
