Day 5 and 6 Of No Cast

Well, were coming to the final stretch of being free. Its been a blessing!
Sunday, after an outdoor service at my parents church, we headed back to the zoo! On Saturday we only got through half the zoo and didn't see any of the typical zoo animals or get to do the train or feed the goats. Mianna was crushed and We felt horrible. So, we decided while Hadley has her cast off, we should get back there to finish the zoo! I'm glad we did because it was well worth it! Even though it was expensive, spending time with the family is priceless! Then we came home and took baths again! :)
Today after the girls' had their classes at the YMCA, we had a picnic at the park! And Hadley got one last fun time in the sand that she'll get to have for awhile. She loved it! Then we took baths! hehe, of course!
In about 15 min. were going to be heading to Chicago. Mianna will be spending the night with Grandma and Grandpa. Were going to just relax and have fun wtih Hadley one more night when she is cast free. Maybe stop at a park with sand, get some dinner, get another bath, and most importantly LOTS of snuggling!
I'm definitely getting emotional and going to miss the snuggly little body of hers. But, it is for the best!!!
Well, can't write more because the Hadley is crabby and we gotta go :)
Please keep praying for us... exspeically tomorrow~!

Day 4 of No Cast

On Saturday we went to the zoo. That's always hard to do with a cast because it's to hot for her, but it was great without her cast. It was definitely hot and would have been unbearable with a cast. The girls loved it. Unfortunately our trip got cut a little short because it rained, but it was fun while we could be there! After that we went home and played in the bath tub. :)

Day 3 of No Cast

On Friday, we got outside early since the weathermen said it was going to rain by 12. Of course it didn't....
First we played in the sandbox a little bit, then we did a little bit of playing in the baby pool. After they've had enough of that, we tried painting for the first time without being so worried about getting paint on ourselves. Hadley enjoyed everything, but she wasn't too into getting paint on herself. She's always been a little more particular about getting food on her hands or face, so I guess it makes sense! It was a good experience anyways :)

1st day of no cast

The night Hadley got her cast off, she got a bath with Mianna. Mia was thrilled to get to take a bath with her. She kept tickling her little belly! :)
Hadley LOVED the bath. It made Andy and I so sad to see her having so much fun knowing in less than a wk, bath time will be done for another 3 months. But while we can, were going to enjoy it! She splashed and splashed and was a wild little monkey! :)
I will post every day with not having a cast on as I have a chance!

Hadley's Xrays

Here is all of Hadley's X-rays so far from day 1 of her journey of scoliosis:

xray #2 (3 months later) (taken at Children's Hospital Of WI)
9 months old
55 degrees (turned into a C curve)

*Was put into a Kalibus Brace at this time, then we decided to get a 2nd opinion at Shriners of Chicago and they took the next xray:

xray #3 (2 months later) ( 1 month of wearing the brace) (Brace was not holding her curve at all)
11 months
74 degrees

*The very next day she was casted

xray # 4 - Next Day(in 1st cast)
11 months
17 degrees

xray #5 (1 month being in 1st cast)

xray #6(2 1/2 months being in the cast)
13 1/2 months
27 degrees

Getting Hadley's Cast Off

The day finally came to get Hadley's cast off! It was a little bit scary for her with the loud noise and the saw coming at her, but once it was over, she did great. It took a little while to get through all the layers of cast, but then afterwards I got to wash her up with a sponge and water and put a lot of lotion on her. Her skin looked awesome overall. A lot of kids when they get there cast off are all bruised and dry and a lot even have open sore spots, but Hadley's skin looked great other than dirty and a little red. But thats all gone now! After getting her cast off we waited around to talk to the Dr about some stuff. We will not know any results until next wk when she goes back in to get another cast. They will xray her and we'll see if there's been any improvements. They informed us that with the first couple casts, there isn't always improvement, but there could be with the later casts. Dr also reminded us that kids with curves over 60 degrees, the chances of having surgery are much higher than under 60 degrees. He pretty much said with statistics, there hasn't yet been any cases that a child with a curve over 60 degrees that hasn't needed surgery, but he would be happy to have the first. And so would we. Hearing that stabbed me right in the heart and I did everything I could to not break down in front of them. But Andy reminded me again that statistics are nothing compared to what God can do. He could straighten her spine up right now if it is his will. We just have to trust that his plan for Hadley and her back is for the best, whatever journey it brings. But please pray that she wont have to have the surgery because if she does, they will try to postpone it until she is 3 or 4, but then after that, she'll have to have surgery every 6 months until she is done growing which is around age 8 or 9. That sounds horrible to us and is obviously our last resort. So, that is how our day down in Chicago went. Weather turned out great and driving went fast! Hadley is happy to be free! We took a bath later that night, but I will post this on another post! :) Thanks for your prayers and please pray for next wk. I'm dreading it soooo much. I don't want to give my baby back! I want to keep her squishy little body forever! But I know its for the better to recast her :/

Hadley's LAST day in her 1st Cast!

Tomorrow is the BIG day!!!!!! Hadley gets her cast off! I can't wait! I've been looking forward to this day for 2 months now :) So many baths and sand and swimming! A wk full of fun things to do. And don't forget all the snuggling with our squishy little girl ;)

This wk is also a big wk in telling whether the cast is correcting Hadley's spine or not. So, please pray that it is!

For a couple months now I've been looking forward to tomorrow and haven't even thought about next wk(recasting her), but today it set in. Its going to be a rough day having to get her cast back on again after having her free of it for one wk. I just want my baby! But we have to remember, that God has a very special plan for her and trust him!

Stay updated for LOTS of pictures of Hadley WITHOUT her cast on and our fun wk ahead of us!

Here is Hadley one more time in her first cast....

Still smiling like always ;)
